EXPECT MORE OF THE SAME

23 comments:

  1. Shocked and disappointed in the poll results --- the incumbents deserved to be ousted. Their lack of fiscal responsibility is grossly disappointing and it will now continue for another three pjainful years and at the tax payer's expense. I did hear a rumor that Mrs. Raymond over at LawrenceBrook school was escorting folks down the hall encouraging them to vote yes for the budget - don't think that is quite ethical or even moral - someone might want to look into that.

Thank you for trying to inform the community of the facts and for providing resource links to the facts unlike the administration and for engaging the community in the process. It was a good dialogue unfortunately with a disappointing result.

  2. Thank you for the hard work. If more people were listening, more people would be outraged, and the results would be different. This goes to show that many people in East Brunswick are not yet capable of understanding the difference between propaganda and fact. A sad day for our community.

  3. Agreed a sad day for our community -- in the public sector you cannot take a $4 million dollar surplus and "carry" it over to the next year. Matter of fact, we are accountable month by month for our budgets and forecasts - if you don't forecast it you lose it and if you don't spend it you lose it. That is standard accounting principles - it is not a best practice or standard accounting to take money not spent and carry it over into a new year - frankly it is against standard accounting principles. How the board of ed gets away with that is mind boggling. There are no "slush funds" in corporate America - wake up and smell the coffee people. We are counting every last dime and so should you be with our tax dollars.

  4. I can't believe they won, now who do we have to fight for us?

  5. No one - that is why people have to attend the board meetings and respectfully challenge the decisions that are being made -- in a vacuum unfortunately. The great thing about this website was the convenience of the links to the facts - that is what I liked best - to make my own decisions, but I felt informed witihout having to DRILL through the board of ed B.S.

  6. You'll probably delete this, but I have to say it was totally different for me. I really enjoyed watching the three clowns lose tonight. If anything we learned tonight, boys and girls, we learned two things; 1 - the people of East Brunswick truly care about their schools, their teachers, and those who lead them, and 2 -- the sleazy, dirty, low-level form of politics you attmepted to introduce in this community backfired. Your ways didn't work here... but alas, there's always New Brunswick next store!!! Maybe you can move and try it there ;)

  7. Wow, how immature. I did not think of the candidates as "clowns" and how low to say that. I would say that "boys and girls" it was a good dialogue and a transparent one and an open one and more than that a mature and lively debate. Grow up.

  8. P.S. There is nothing sleazy about honesty and transparency - that is what the dialogue was about - stupid - just in case you didn't get it.

  10. Voter turnout estimated at 4,713 or 14.66 percent of a total of 32,143 registered voters.

  11. I don't find this website sleazy or low level. I think it provides the type of information people need and if more people had seen it the vote would have been different. I hope you continue the website and I think we need to find a way to inform more people about it. Thanks for your good work.

  12. To the person who said "you'll probably delete this." How could you think that? There have been comments in both directions on this website all along. I don't think the creator of this site would delete anything unless it was unlawful. You are obviously used to dealing with the current administration and board, they are the ones with the delete and hide philosophy. Everyone is entitled to their opinion.

  13. The creator of the site did not delete information when one of his facts (on two years vs on year salary increase)was questioned. He apologized and changed the information for all to see. If only the board would be so honest. And isn't it funny that that one little thing was questioned and not another piece of information was.

  14. Now that the election is over, let's see how long it takes them to get the "new" memorial playground in the ground so that the kids can use it. They hurried up and moved it the week/weekend (not sure) before the election. I bet it sits there for the next several weeks, unable to be used, cause it isn't hooked into the ground.

  15. Please keep your website going, regardless of who won this election, the people need information. How can you get this out to more people??? Maybe the Board of Ed could vote to include a link to it on the ebnet webset - ha ha ha
Someone could get up and talk about it at a Board of Ed meeting, but no one watches those, same with the council meetings. One person from each school could inform people at a PTA meeting, but unfortunately not many people go to those either. I'm at a loss.

  16. There's always the next election!! Isn't there one next year and aren't 4 positions up for election. I do have to say that if Robert Shamy is one of them, I would have to vote to keep him in. I met him multiple times when he was the Supervisor of Social Studies and have found him to be a man of integrity and honesty. He was always forthright in his dealings with me and I believe "in it" for the right reasons.

  17. What we all need to take away from the election is the amazing support that was generated for Gene,Joe and James. What our mission now NEEDS to be is to have all of attend the BOE meeting and CALL THEM OUT on all of the empty promises. Being elected is one thing buy resigning due to to much pressure and exposure to corrupt practices in another thing. We need to treat these meetings like town Hall meetings and LET OUR VOICES BE HEARD! This needs to be the beginning of the TAX payers running the show. We all saw how much influence and impact we had. We made them shake in their boots. They need to know that business as usual is over as they know it. They will have to have ACCOUNTABILITY! WE need to commit to going to the BOE meetings and taking a pact that we will not accept any lore LIES! They were re elected not they have to perform as they should not as they did.

  18. My typo's show my anger to the results of the Election. Everyone needs to remember one thing,if we dont attend the meetings, then all of the determination and dedication that went into the campaign will be for nothing.

  19. My thanks go to Mr. Ryan who spoke with me extensively yesterday on the phone. I was one of the ignorant people (I guess the person who thought their comment would be deleted would say ignorance is bliss) who never even voted at school elections because I had no idea of what was going on. Also thanks for this website and I'm hoping to get others informed.

  20. Now that the election is over, is anyone else out there disgusted with Chicago Math. I for one abhor it, and have zillions of articles saying how bad it is. How it has failed in many many districts, and a lot of other people are abandoning it. Anyone else interested in trying to get rid of it???

  21. Definitely out with the Everyday Math!
I have been using a well proven curriculum called Saxxon Math. It is probably not used in public schools...it's too good.
    Look it up :)

  22. Chicago Math Stinks and does nothing but confuse the kids and while we are on it -- teaching young children to spell phonetically is stupid. That is why our kids cannot write.

  23. I have to say I like this Words Their Way, better than the old inventive spelling they were doing when my older two were in elementary. My oldest can't spell anything cause we bought into their "this is the way to do it", second kid I made her spell everything correctly at home, but of course they did inventive in school, she spells much better than the first one. And my youngest in 2nd grade seems much better with "words their way" than either of my older with inventive. I went to the head of ILA and Math several years ago with my concerns. I am also shocked that they never learn script and are never required to use it. They claim they teach script, but with my older kids it was handouts in 3rd grade. They made the letters, connected it with a few other letters, circled their best one and that was the end of that. Perhaps it is different now. But I confirmed with the supervisor of ILA (this was 3 years ago) that they are never required to use script. I think it is ridiculous, yes they will all be using computers (which is what I was told when I mentioned my script concerns) but it would be nice if they could read script when they graduate from our wonderful schools. Ask the 6th, 7th, .... on and on grade teachers and they will tell you that they cannot write in script cause the kids can't read it. I was told that Chicago Math was chosen because they have to use a "research based" program due to the No Child Left Behind Act. There has to be something better than Chicago Math.
We can't all continue to be anonymous if we want change.
